Things to do in Second Life when the grid is down

Well, not much really.

Most of the people I talk to end up in #secondlife, the IRC channel, but of course, it gets crowded when there’s no grid. Others do some RL chores, and yet others actually go out, have lives and stuff. Me, I filled in some more forms for the sale of my house and did some chores, though not as much as I suppose I should have.

Still, there’s always Eve, and Freya’s in there right now, so…

The above is one of my ships. Quite a tough one too actually. 🙂 I just wish I were a good enough pilot to do it justice.

Patch day fun

Yesterday was kinda fun, if you like long lazy days. After I got back from town, I got some power and network problems, so was off line for a while, but Nenya and Eloise helped me relax when I got back with a nice massage. After which I sat up chatting with Talila until about 3:30 or so, which was fun. 🙂

Unfortunately, Freya wasn’t around yesterday. At least not while I was on line, which kinda spoiled what could have been a perfect day really.

And today is Second Life patch day. This will be fun.

Lazy Tuesday

This morning’s been pretty lazy. Spent it lying round in Io with Eloise, while she scripts, and I attempt to finish off the disaster area that is my kitchen. I’ve made some progress, but not exactly a lot.

Oh well…

Trip to the opticians this afternoon too…

You know you’ve been playing Second Life too much when…

… your kitchen starts to look like a sandbox.

Every so often, someone posts a thread to the forums about “You know you’ve been playing Second Life so much when…” and it invariably lapses into the same old tales, and a few jaded cynics posting how this it the third time this week this thread has been started, and so on…

Well, I finally realised how neglected my kitchen is. I started with washing up, and I think I washed enough glasses of various sizes to run a small pub. Shameful! I’m not finished yet, I think this will take a few days *sigh*, or at least mornings.

Wish me luck!

An eventful weekend

I’m not even sure where to begin. It’s been an eventful weekend, to say the least. In a good way though.

On Saturday evening, Freya logged in to upload some snapshots she took at what is now being referred to as “The Disastrous Party”, and stayed a while. They came out pretty good to be honest, but then Freya was always a fabulous photographer in Second Life. She didn’t stay late though, early start Sunday for some real-life stuff, which may result in some more photos soon. I hope so, at least. She’s still not comfortable with Second Life, but getting better slowly.

I also seem to have inadvertently picked up a new pet this weekend. Well, you know what I’m like with strays 🙂 In any case, Nenya has a sister again (assuming of course that Freya allows it). It’s been quiet since Kaili’s departure a few months back, but then, I don’t think Eloise will replace her – there was a certain insanity about everything Kaili touched. She was cute, hyperactive and always enthusiastic. Now she’s M.I.A., and none of us have heard a word in months. I’m told it’s not that unusual for her.

So basically, most of the weekend was spent getting used to having two submissives around again. Which was not exactly unpleasant, if you know what I mean. Anyway, welcome to our fold, Eloise. (lyric). I hope you enjoy your stay.

Now my next cunning plan has to be to persuade Freya and/or Nenya to start a blog. That would be awesome!

Slow days

Well, it’s coming up to SLCC and so it’s slow in Second Life. And slow means there’s not a lot to write about.

Still, I’ve updated my “me” pages, so please, have a look at them if you’re interested in learning more about me and what I get up to in Second Life.

Work continues too on our rebuild, though slower now the original burst of creativity has passed… and because Freya’s working long hours this week. I’m sure that we’ll get more done over the weekend though.

A worrying thing though, for the world is that the self replicating fish has showed up again in the wild. Tateru asked what it was in Live Help not 10 minutes ago. Generation 36. I do hope we’re not in for a spate of these again.

And that’s it I guess. I bought some new hair, Morveren by Sachi Vixen. It’s a gorgeous look too. One small problem with it’s scripts to start, but Sachi came through with customer support as good as one can hope for in Second Life, so all is happy… at least for now. Thanks Sachi, lovely hair (and a beautiful story too).

And the rebuild progresses

As you’ll have seen from the previous post… the new skybox is 2 storeys. Currently there’s still some texture flash on the outside, which I will get around to later… but hell it’s a skybox, it’s not meant to be looked at from the outside.

Anyway, since my beloved Freya came back, we now, once more have the textures from the old one, and redecorating has begun. A picture is below…

This for anyone who knows the skybox photography thread on the SL forums. If it’s empty, you’re welcome to look, but be discrete, and obfuscate any poseballs left lying round (I think “hide” gets rid of most :p). If someone’s there, ask permission before approaching. The security isn’t set to automatic by default, just to scan. Don’t make us change that.

Anyway that’s it, an update. Freya and I are talking again, which makes me very happy, at least. We have a long way to go though, so I still need your support. Thank you.

Picture below… (it’s not yet finished, so there’s no gallery… yet)

Looking back on the last few days.

Having a blog is a good thing in my opinion, if for no other reason than it gives one a place to vent ones frustrations, as I have in my last post or two. I know, sometimes it makes me sound like an emo drama queen, but then, at times like that, I suppose that wouldn’t be that inaccurate a description. Anyway, to those who kept reading, thank you.

To begin with, a history of the weekends events in brief:

  • Sunday was my 3rd Rezday, and we had a party at Stonehenge.
  • Towards the end, someone started building overhead.
  • Freya warned him, and told me, which I completely misunderstood and without thinking through the consequences, took action – the wron action.
  • All our builds were returned. Freya got (understandably) angry and logged off, while I tried – and failed – to get LL to help.
  • Monday was hard because Freya was away all day anyway, but usually there’s some contact. I started rebuilding what I could.
  • When she got back, she was still angry, and it wasn’t until late that we spoke at all on ICQ.
  • We finally spoke properly and in world Tuesday evening. All was not right yet, but at least we’re talking and we know it was a horrible accident. Rebuilding is now progressing.

I want to thank all the people, both in world and in the IRC channel who offered a shoulder for me to cry on. You were a huge help. Only thing is, I think Freya might have needed it more. It was substantially her builds that were lost. This is what we’ve got back so far:

In other news, I got my first spam on my blog today. I guess that means the Word of Sio is spreading. Akismet blocked it!

Maybe now I can get back to some happy entries.

It’s hard knowing what to do. Yes, I screwed up badly. I’ve started to rebuild. The old copy of Stonehenge, a new sky house… but I need Freya to texture, of course…

Without you, Freya my love… I’m lost here.
