And so it begins.

Looks like it’s been about a week or so since I posted. So, what has been happening? Well, there was of course Second Life 1.5.8 (followed closely by 1.5.9 and 1.5.10 in fairly rapid succession to fix some newly introduced bugs). The Lindens don’t yet seem to have crippled my sim, which can only be seen as a good thing, and the store’s doing well.

The other evening, in Gravity, Freya dedicated a song to me, which Dominick played :). Unfortunately, due to the problems with SL, I crashed just before it started and was unable to get back in for about a half hour. So much for that. Thank you for trying, Freya.

The mall, as I said, is doing better. We’re well over 50% full now, and I think we’ll get some more merchants soon as people notice us. If you’re such a merchant and haven’t heard of Mochastyle before, then I’d encourage you to take a look. You’ll have read in the forums about malls with “the cheapest rents in SL” all the time. Well, cut their prices in half and you’ll have what we charge.. about L$50 a week for our most expensive 40 prim booths. The L$1 stalls in the market, are I think all taken, but since some folk there are abusing their rights, I’ll be freeing some of them up soon.

And w00t! I got my Live Help 1st Team t-shirt this week. Thanks Lindens! I shout out loud enough when I think they get it wrong, so I’d best do as much when I think they got it right, lol.

So I’ll be disappearing soon. Not for too long though. I’m away for the holiday and should be back before the new year to cause yet more drama and tears on the SL forums. So, to those of you I won’t see before I leave, have a wonderful holiday, whatever you celebrate, may it be all you hoped for, and more.

Monday Again

Yet another Monday rolls by. I usually don’t like Mondays much – I suppose in that, I’m no different to most people – but today’s not been too bad. I’ve calmed down a little since the weekend.

Still angry at the Lindens though. I don’t think half the Liaisons actually know what’s going on with regards to land!

Still, there’s not much I can do about it for now, so I can’t let it bother me. I have RL to deal with later, so that gets dealt with instead.

Anyway, here’s a pic I took earlier …

Sio at Stonehenge

I hope you like it.

What the hell do they think they’re doing?

I love my sim, I really do. I’ve been living in Mocha since Julia and I bought a plot together in November last year. We, now I, have been buying up more and more as it became available to support the Mall. It’s a great place to live. Good neighbours, nice land, and no huge, laggy clubs.

So now, LL decide that they’re going to put the old sims onto old hardware. So, Mocha’s a pretty old sim. It’s not going to be getting the latest and greatest hardware. And I’m not happy! The mall, by necessity, generates some lag. We cut down on lights, timers, listens etc. as much as we can, but you never eliminate them entirely. So even on a 400 series server it’s not the fastest in the world. So, just like Lusk has been, and will be again… we’re consigned to the slowest servers. Do LL care what this does to the value of land? I mean, if it’s down to below 100fps when empty, how am I meant to run a mall, or any events?

I mean, OK, someone has to have them until they’re retired, but until now, they’ve been randomly distributed, so just cos it’s slow one week, it could be super fast the next. But no more. No more will I be able to host a party, or successfully run a mall. No longer will I even get a chance to compete for the popular places list, since I’ll never be able to have more than one or two people in the sim at a time, let alone on my land. So much for running a successful mall.

Thank you Lindens.
